Winter sports in summer
When only green pastures dominate on the mountains all around and only the Kitzsteinhorn is snow-covered, the summer begins in Zell am See. The interplay of glacier and lake makes the region all the more attractive. In late spring you can have an early morning ski run on the glacier, at noon enjoy the warm sun, in front of one of the mountain restaurants and finally in the valley floor, jump into the wonderfully clear Zeller Lake. Now that’s what I call variety.

Or you can try paddle boarding around the lake. In summer, hiking enthusiasts stride around on the extensive network of hiking trails and explore the Schmittenhöhe and the Maiskogel on foot. Walks and themed hikes await are waiting, as well as high-altitude paths and challenging climbs with breathtaking views. The glacier can also be explored on foot: special adventure hikes in the ice promise the ultimate summer thrill and don’t forget to try the wonderful local cuisine of offer, in the mountain restaurants.
The mountains and valleys are a paradise for all bike fans, with something for everyone, from a leisurely cycle on the valley floor, around the lake, to the high-altitude mountain pass climbs by the road specialists, while mountain bike fans explore the freeride trails, forest roads and trails in the mountain around Zell am See. The network of mountain bike routes is extensive and has something to offers for all levels of difficulty. Horseback riding, rafting, canyoning and a Segway course complete the range of adventurous summer pursuits in Zell am See.

Even golf enthusiasts will be happy here as they can play the Zell am See and Kaprun golf clubs where you play on fantastic fairways, on flat, park-like terrain with perfect greens, surrounded by majestic mountain views.
