Seefeld: Holidays in the Olympic Region
Situated on a plateau between the Wetterstein Mountains and the Karwendel, the Tyrolean town of Seefeld, just 17 kilometres from Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol, has been a popular holiday destination for more than 120 years. Seefeld has been the venue of several Olympic Winter Games, which is why the region is best known for its wonderful winter sports facilities. The geographical location ensures plenty of fresh snow every year and thus the best conditions for cross-country skiing enthusiasts, winter hiking fans, skiing and snowboarding fans. But Seefeld also has a lot to offer in summer. An unbelievable 650 kilometres of hiking, mountain and via ferrata routes and an almost limitless range of cycling and mountain biking trails beckon.

ski experience
It was the Seefeld ski racer and four-time world champion Toni Seelos who invented the way people ski today in 1930: in a parallel turn. This replaced the stem turn that had been used until then.
Seefeld in any season
Seefeld is considered one of the most traditional winter sports resorts in the Austrian Alpine region. The region is a member of the “Best of the Alps” association and thus stands for excellent infrastructure, upscale gastronomy and lifestyle. Modern comfort and all the advantages of an exclusive ski resort also make the Olympiaregion Seefeld a special place for your winter holiday in the Austrian mountains. Many sunny days and reliable amounts of fresh snow create the ideal conditions for all winter sports. Cross-country skiing enthusiasts take advantage of more than 240 kilometres of trails, while winter hiking fans and ski aficionados also get their money’s worth.
Summer in Seefeld, however, is at least as beautiful. Because then lush alpine meadows give way to a white blanket of snow and reveal an incredible 650 kilometres of marked hiking trails. The Karwendel Nature Park, the largest nature park in the Eastern Alps, the Wildmoos nature reserve and the mighty Wetterstein Mountains are waiting to be discovered. Cycling and mountain bike trails as well as wonderful excursion destinations provide additional variety.
