Year-round destination Tyrol
When the snow slowly gives way to the lush green of the alpine pastures and only the highest peaks still sparkle in the sun, Tyrol transforms from a winter sports wonderland into a paradise for all sports enthusiasts. You can go hiking, climbing and mountain biking almost everywhere in Tyrol, but every holiday region has its own very special charms. Lake Achensee, the largest lake in Tyrol has an extensive range of water sports, beaches and some maritime flair. In the Zillertal, the most active valley in Austria, a fantastic golf course awaits you as well as a summer glacier trip.
In the Ötztal, the longest valley in Austria, you can also visit the Hintertux Glacier in the Zillertal. The state has many historic cities such as Innsbruck, Hall in Tirol, Rattenberg, Kufstein and Lienz, all definitely worth a visit. In winter, a lot of things in Tyrol revolve around skiing and snowboarding – but by no means everything. In addition to winter via ferrata, cross-country ski trails and natural toboggan runs, you can also enjoy freeride routes in the freeride paradise fieberbrunn, snow parks, romantic sleigh rides and fun on ice skates.
