This is exactly what we invite you to do at VAYA: around our houses you will find countless opportunities to expand your sporting horizons. And who knows: maybe you have the talent to become the next Tiger Woods? No matter whether you go pro or leave it at a few fun attempts: You should definitely try these three activities in the Alps this summer:
A shot in the green: golfing
Whether you’ve been swinging woods and irons for years or your previous experience was limited to miniature golf: Golfing is one of the most beautiful outdoor sports in the warm season. You spend a lot of time in the fresh air, walk or drive through the countryside, have exciting conversations and always try to improve your handicap. The fact that the game is also extremely popular in Austria is evident in the VAYAs. Around our houses are some of the most beautiful courses in the country.
The only “Leading Golf Courses“ golf club in the Alps, for example, can be found in Zell am See, Kaprun and Saalbach. On 65 hectares, golfers meet to putt, pitch and chip in the face of the majestic Hohe Tauern. For leisurely rounds, play one of the two 18-hole courses before retiring to fine dining or wellness at VAYA Zell am See, VAYA Kaprun or VAYA Post Saalbach. VAYA St. Anton is also just a hop, skip and a jump away from the green: the Arlberg Golf Club invites you to hilly heights in its 9-hole course at 1,300 metres above sea level – perfect for all those who love challenges. Or how about a round at the oldest course in the Tyrol? The 18-hole course of the Golf & Landclub Achensee is just a 20-minute drive from VAYA Achensee.
Making waves: water sports
If you spend your summer at either VAYA Achensee or VAYA Zell am See, you will reap several benefits at once. One of them is, without a doubt, their location on the lake. Both the Zellersee and the Achensee, both surrounded by lush meadows and high mountains, are ideal for letting off steam. Here you can try out activities that you would probably never get to do otherwise. Among them is the popular stand-up paddling, or SUP, which became a trend a few years ago. And rightly so: SUP not only makes you physically fit, but also really fun. Also great: just try your hand at old classics like paddleboating or boating again.
Want to get a little more adventurous and sporty? Then windsurfing is just the thing for you. The many schools on the shores of both lakes teach you how to handle wind and waves properly. Lake Achensee in particular is considered one of the most wind-favourable lakes in Austria. Therefore, it is not only ideal for windsurfing, but also for wingfoiling and challenging kitesurfing.
Over all mountains: summer tobogganing
Get into the toboggan and off across the Alps: there is hardly anyone who doesn’t love summer tobogganing. It goes down the mountain, the green of the forests and meadows rushes by, here and there you pass an astonished deer. The tracks take you over straights and curves, over bridges and fast-paced roundabouts. The bobs can reach speeds of up to 40 kilometres per hour: But thanks to the built-in brake, you can easily control and slow down the speed yourself.

- VAYA Post Saalbach: “LeoKlang or Leo’s Kufengaudi” with a length of 400 metres and “Biberg” with a length of 1.6 kilometres.
- VAYA Ladis: “Fisser Flitzer” in the Summer Funpark Fiss with a length of 2.2 kilometres.
- VAYA Zillertal: “Arena Coaster” near Zell am Ziller with a length of 1.5 kilometres.
- VAYA Tip: The “Alpbachtaler Lauser-Sauser” may be an hour’s ride away from VAYA Zillertal, but it boasts Austria’s highest 360-degree gyro.
- VAYA Fieberbrunn: “Timoks Alpine Coaster” in Timoks Wilder Welt with 1.2 kilometres.
