Winter Holidays in Seefeld

You are longing for a break in the mountains, but it should be a very special holiday in Tyrol? Then we would like to suggest you a stay in the region of Seefeld. And also tell you why the Tyrolean village deserves the top spot on your bucket list. In addition: these are some of the most exciting things to do in Seefeld.

Enjoy time out in the sun - and in the snow

Seefeld lies on a plateau between the Wetterstein Mountains and the Karwendel. This gives the village a lot of sun. At the same time, the location guarantees a lot of fresh snow every year. The conditions for a long winter sports season are therefore excellent. In summer, the surrounding area is perfect for your active holiday with over 650 kilometers of hiking, mountain, via ferrata, cycling and mountain biking trails all waiting to be discovered.

Doing your laps in the cross-country skiing mecca

245 kilometres of groomed cross-country trails – that sounds like music to your ears? Then Seefeld is the right place for you. No matter how well you move on the skis, you will always find a run here that challenges you to a new height of your performance and ability. It also ensures that you have an enjoyable trip into the snowy winter landscape. In addition to Seefeld’s snow-sure location, our snow making trail ensures that you are always on a carpet of fresh white snow.

This is an approximately 1.5 kilometer long and eight meter wide slope. On it, professionals and novices alike can cross-country ski in skating and classic style from November. Two turning points allow you to do your laps for as long as you want. The trail is also barrier-free. The entrance to the snow trail can be found at the cross-country skiing center in Leutasch.

Enjoy the world’s unique cross-country ski trail service

Your cross-country skiing stay in Seefeld will be a special holiday if you let the cross-country skiing guides give you helpful tips. The cross-country ski trail service with its hotline is unique in the world. The employees offer an all-round service directly on the cross-country ski run. At least four team members are on site during opening hours. They are constantly moving about and are therefore, an important contact person for many cross-country skiers. In addition, they help with emergencies, check tickets and pay attention to the condition of the trails.

Take a journey through time

Seefeld is a place rich in tradition. In the 14th century, pilgrims already knew Seefeld as a place of pilgrimage. Even before 1900, tourists came to enjoy the beautiful nature. Since the 1930s, Seefeld has been one of the most visited tourist resorts in Austria. The town became even more famous after the Nordic disciplines of the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics were held here. During a varied winter walk, guests learn everything worth knowing about the area from the state-certified tour guide Alexandra Glatzl. History, but also the present, come to life in their words.

In the panoramic restaurant Rosshütte everything revolves around the fascination of winter sports. The Olympic and nostalgia exhibition shows exciting insights and relics from the time of the Olympic Winter Games. Artifacts of Tyrolean sports history are not all you get to see here. Because the wonderful panoramic view of Seefeld is also worth a look.

Go night tobogganing in the floodlights

Many more stars than any hotel will ever have sparkle up in the velvety-black night sky. A little further below, the floodlight system at Katzenkopf Leutasch shines with them. Because every Tuesday you can dive into some winter fun with tobogganing on the slopes and the natural toboggan run. The toboggans are available on site to borrow. A special holiday in Tyrol is simply not complete if you have not experienced at least once how the wind blows around your face while tobogganing down the mountain side.

Enjoy a forest bath in winter

Forest bathing is all the range at the moment, you can even try it in winter – you can do that in Seefeld. Since 2016, guests have been enjoying the health benefits that the forest has on humans during guided forest bathing sessions with nature coach Verena Hiltpolt. Winter forest bathing is at least as beautiful. All you need is good footwear and warm, weatherproof clothing.

Skiing in a fine ski resort

Skiing or snowboarding is what makes your heart beat faster? Don’t worry, this is what awaits you in the Seefeld region. The ski arena offers skiing fun and winter sun for all. No wonder that ski stars such as Lindsey Vonn and Marie Höfl-Riesch have trained here. The ski resort is also ideal for families. Because it is smaller and quieter than other Tyrolean ski resorts, it is a bit more exclusive here than elsewhere.

Walking with alpacas

The fluffy animals don’t just look cute. They are too! Your special holiday in Tyrol will be even more unforgettable thanks to a walk with one of these “living teddy bears”. And children also love the funny guys. To warm up, there is punch, mulled wine and tea in the alpaca stable.

Take a trip to Innsbruck

The Tyrolean capital of Innsbruck is only 17 kilometres away. Thanks to the ideal train connection, a trip there is also possible by public transport. Walking, visiting the small cafés, hiking along the Inn, admiring the Golden Roof: Innsbruck is worth a visit at any time of the year.
