Salzburg is always worth a visit. In the summer months, you can’t help but visit the capital of the state of the same name. You walk through the narrow streets of the old town and follow in the footsteps of Mozart in the Getreidegasse. Marvel at the size of Salzburg Cathedral, in the evening go to see the famous play “The Jedermann”-experience the Salzburg Festival and climb up to the Hohensalzburg Fortress where wonderful views await you at the top. And you can also experience the history of the city up close in the rooms of the former knight’s castle.
In the Mirabell Gardens you can marvel at the beautiful flowers and the landscaped park. Not far from the city of Salzburg is the Hellbrunn Palace. The imperial pleasure palace is known for its magical fountains. You can still experience this today just as visitors did around 400 years ago.
Experience the beauties of Salzburger Land

The province offers a wonderful landscape to discover and explore from the gentle foothills of Salzburg to the foothills of the Alps, to the fourth highest mountain in Austria, the Großvenediger. The choice ranges from the Hohe Tauern to the largest ice cave in the world, to clear mountain lakes and gorges and wide valleys.
Fortunately for you, several of our fantastic VAYAs properties are nearby and waiting to be discovered on your road trip through Austria. It’s best to start in VAYA Kaprun. Here you will discover the joys of winter almost all year round on the nearby glacier, the Kitzsteinhorn. Continue to Zell am See. There you can walk along Lake Zell, go swimming or treat yourself to a boat trip over the calm waters. The starting point for your activities is the VAYA Zell am See. Then head to VAYA Post Saalbach for a few nights. Enjoy being outside in the clear mountain air while mountain biking and hiking.
Road trip through Austria: Out and about in Tyrol
Now it’s off to Tyrol! Your first destination is called Fieberbrunn. Enjoy the amazing panoramic views, ideal for families with many attractions for all. The extensive hiking and mountain bike trails at VAYA Fieberbrunn are waiting to be discovered. Our typical Tyrolean specialties are just as much a part of your holiday discovery, as are all the ski runs and mountain tails.
Via Pass Thurn you can finally reach the Zillertal. It is no coincidence that this is nicknamed one of the best adventure paradises in the world in either winter or summer. The possibilities to explore the outdoors here are endless or maybe you just want to simply recharge your batteries. Explore the many hiking trails and enjoy golfing in front of the beautiful rugged mountain landscape.
Relax and discover
Further north, VAYA Achensee awaits to be discovered. Here you spend your holidays between the mountain and the lake, embedded in the nature of the Tyrol. Enjoy cooling off in the lake, discovering the water sports or hiking the hills. Golfing guests will also get their money’s worth around Lake Achensee.
You should definitely explore the capital of the province of Tyrol, Innsbruck, best explored on foot. Walk to the famous “Golden Roof” and the Hofkirche. The tomb of the Emperor Maximilian I is one of the most beautiful Imperial tombs in Europe. On the Bergisel ski jump, designed by renowned architect Zaza Hadid, you will find the “Bergisel Sky” restaurant. Stop by for a coffee and admire the fantastic view over the city and the Nordkette. Speaking of Nordkette: the stations of the Nordkettenbahn were also designed by Zaza Hadid. The city mountain of Innsbrucker is ideal for hiking and enjoying the views. Other important sights are the Alpine Zoo, Ambras Castle and the Imperial Hofburg.
Seefeld and Sölden: cosy and action-packed
Only about 30 minutes away by car you will find more VAYA vibes, wellness and top-class cuisine with the VAYA Seefeld. Enjoy not only excursions to the city, but also explore the nature in the area. Hiking, biking, climbing, golfing, rafting and paragliding are right on the doorstep. Your summer road trip through Austria is not finished yet. Then head to VAYA Sölden.
