Fortunately, there are a few simple tips and tricks for proper skin care in winter. This is how you avoid unpleasant irritations.
Winter skin care tips and tricks
Tip #1: Water from outside: dosed
Don’t take too hot or long showers in winter. Use moisturising shower gels and apply cream carefully afterwards. It’s best to do this while the skin is still slightly damp so that the care products are better absorbed. Another good tip is to buy a humidifier for offices and living rooms.
Tip #2: Water from the inside: as much as possible
It’s a different story with hydration from the inside. Drink plenty of water and unsweetened teas. This not only helps to hydrate the mucous membranes and protect you from viruses and bacteria, but is also a blessing for the skin.
Tip #3: Eyes and lips: particularly sensitive
The thin skin around the eyes and the skin of the lips have no or few sebaceous glands. As a result, it cannot protect itself as well. Oils and serums especially for the eyes can help, and lip balms now belong in every trouser pocket. Especially if you spend a lot of time outdoors and in the mountains, where the wind plays an important role.
Tip #4: Clothing: allow to breathe
Sure, when it gets cold outside, we need to dress warmer. But that doesn’t exclude wearing breathable fabrics. On the contrary, if moisture doesn’t build up under your clothes and you choose natural materials instead of itchy synthetics, your skin will be happy.
Tip #5: Ingredients: Pure nature
It’s also time to rethink your skincare products. Instead of light textures, winter skincare requires richer creams and oils. Look for natural ingredients and do not use perfumed products. These can further irritate the skin. Cleansing products with alcohol are also too drying. Products with hyaluronic acid and ceramides, on the other hand, are very good. Don’t forget to use sunscreen even in winter – for example, when you are on holiday in the mountains!
Tip #6: Mask: also in bed
We’re not thinking about FFP2 masks, but skin care masks. If you apply facial oils generously at night before going to bed, you will wake up with a radiant complexion. Two to three times a week you should apply a honey mask, which moisturises with natural ingredients.
