Which bike suits me?
The city biker: Do you prefer to cycle through the charming alleys of small and large cities? Do you want your routes to be paved or asphalted, or at least easy to ride? Then go for city bikes: they have comfortable saddles and ergonomically shaped handlebars.
The mountain biker: Your route takes you over roots, hills and through the wilderness? With a mountain bike, you’re sure to find the right bike. It has flexible suspension systems and good brakes – ideal for mountain tours and rough terrain.
The endurance bike: You have long tours ahead of you? A trekking bike with wide tyres and a luggage rack is the right model for you.
The mixed type: Whether city or mountain, you feel comfortable everywhere? The cross bike is a real all-rounder and ideal for long tours through nature and urban areas. It is not suitable for really difficult terrain, but it will carry you over mountain trails.
The fast one: You love to feel the wind in your hair? Speed and endurance are just your thing? Get on a road bike: It will carry you along country roads in no time at all. If you get on a gravel bike, you can also cycle fast on rough terrain.
The right VAYA for your bike type
Adventurers at VAYA: mountain bikes and downhill
Achensee. Around the VAYAs you will find an incredible wealth of adventurous trails. Around Lake Achensee, for example – the largest lake in Tyrol – you can experience over 250 kilometres: Here you swing on your bike and chase it past the glittering blue of the lake and the peaks of the Brandenberg Alps. Stay overnight at the stylish VAYA Achensee between mountain and lake.
Saalbach Hinterglemm – Fieberbrunn. And then, of course, there is Austria’s largest bike region: Saalbach Hinterglemm – Fieberbrunn. Fieberbrunn attracts visitors to its great bike area with three lines, trail and pump track. Those who cycle in the region should not miss the legendary Bikepark Leogang: A 10,000 square metre practice area and numerous adventurous routes are available to cyclists. Your bike will quickly become a Ferrari on two wheels.
VAYA Tip: Guests of the Residence Kristall by VAYA, Residence Saalbach by VAYA or VAYA Post Saalbach benefit from the Saalbach Joker Card. This includes not only numerous cultural and leisure activities, but also free use of the mountain railways. They carry bikers high up into the mountains, where countless trails and downhill routes await.
With full power over the mountains at VAYA: E-bikes
It doesn’t always have to be your own muscle strength: With an e-bike, you can ride faster and farther than ever before. If you’re going really steeply uphill, the e-motor will support you. Downhill, you pedal hard yourself. This way, you can ride longer and more enduringly than ever before.
Saalbach. Great long-distance routes await you in Saalbach: over 400 kilometres of trails and tracks and past 40 huts through the region. Would you like to experience as much of the Alps as possible in a group? In the course of a VAYA E-Bike Safari you will experience (literally) the mountain world of two regions of Austria up close.
VAYA Tip: Thanks to our cooperation with Intersport rent, VAYA guests can rent their e-bike at a special rate: We give adults a 10% discount on the daily rental rate, and young people up to 14 years of age benefit from a free bike helmet. Also great: if you want to buy your bike, the rental fee is deducted for up to two days. To make the most of your time on the bike, the e-bike is always ready with a charged battery. Sounds good? It’s terrific.
Fast-paced cycling at VAYA: racing bikes
Road cyclists feel freer than ever before on their way through the Alps: those who cycle up and down the serpentines on their elegantly slender model and make the country roads their own kingdom know what we are talking about.
Kühtai. One of the most popular routes in Austria leads from Innsbruck via the front Ötztal valley to Kühtai. The way back is via the Sellraintal. Of course, you can also start and end your ride in Kühtai. Here, after the exertions of their tour, racing cyclists are welcomed back at the VAYA Kühtai with fine wellness and really good culinary delights.
Zillertal. The Zillertaler Höhenstraße is also a popular cycling hotspot in the Alps: you will be compensated for the ride on the long, steep route with countless top viewpoints of the Tux, Kitzbühel and Zillertal Alps. And afterwards, you can quickly revive your tired muscles with a massage at VAYA Zillertal.
Sölden. Du bist auf der Suche nach einem echten Highlight? Dann haben wir ein ganz wortwörtliches für dich: Die Ötztaler Gletscherstraße führt dich und dein Rennrad auf den höchsten, über eine Straße erreichbaren, asphaltierten Punkt in den Alpen. Steigung: 10,5 Prozent. Belohnung: die wohl spektakulärste Aussicht deines Sommers. Danach kümmern wir uns im VAYA Sölden um dein Wohlbefinden. Wellness, Kulinarik, Komfort – hier ist für alles gesorgt.
Nauders. Natürlich gibt es auch für Rennradfahrer ein paar einfachere Routen. Gemeinsam mit der Familie radelt man in Nauders am besten rund um den Reschensee. Wer alleine unterwegs ist und sich die ganze Strecke zutraut, tritt die gesamten 30 Kilometer in die Pedale. Belohnt werden Rennradler hier mit dem Blick auf den versunkenen Kirchturm von Alt-Graun.
